Liverpool are back in UEFA Champions League action this week as Bologna visit Anfield on matchday two of the 2024/25 league phase on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

The Reds ended the week top of the Premier League table following their 2-1 weekend win over Wolves — their fourth straight victory in all competitions since that shock 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

That run of results started with an impressive 3-1 victory at AC Milan in their opening Champions League match of the season, and they now face more Italian opposition in the form of Bologna, who are playing in the tournament for the first time this term.

The Sporting News looks at the latest team news and predicted lineups for this fixture, as Arne Slot aims to continue his strong start to life as Liverpool manager.

Slot confirmed that Liverpool will be without Federico Chiesa, the winger experienced some issues during training Monday. Harvey Elliott is also sidelined.

However, Diogo Jota is fit to be involved despite sitting out training in recent days, while Andy Robertson and Darwin Nunez, who missed the win at Wolves, are also expected to be available.

Liverpool predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Alisson (GK) — Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson — Gravenberch, Mac Allister — Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo — Jota

Injured: Chiesa, Elliott
Suspended: None

Jhon Lucumi should come in at centre-back given he is serving a suspension in Serie A play. Swiss forward Dan Ndoye will be an important weapon in Vincenzo Italiano's arsenal.

Bologna predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Skorupski (GK) — Posch, Beukema, Lucumi, Lykogiannis — Aebischer, Freuler, Fabbian — Orsolini, Castro, Ndoye

Injured: Ferguson, Pobega
