Best NFL DFS sleepers and expert value picks for Week 4 of the 2024 season for DraftKings, FanDuel, SuperDraft image

With three weeks of 2024 NFL action in the books, it has been a truly wild ride. We've seen upsets aplenty, surprise early MVP candidates (Hi, Sam Darnold!), and multiple 3-0 teams that most analysts had missing the playoffs. Betting has been quite volatile, so many have taken to the world of DFS to try to make some money.

The No. 1 key to success in daily fantasy is to identify value. You won't win any jackpots if you don't get the most bang for your buck during lineup construction, so you'll want to strike a balance with proven weekly studs and high-value sleepers.

For years, this column has shined a light on the under-the-radar gems each week on DraftKings, FanDuel, and now SuperDraft. Anyone can spot the elite DFS stars, but it's the sleepers and value plays that separate lineups from the crowd and start making you some real money.

By finding solid production at discount DFS prices, we afford ourselves more proven weekly studs at other roster positions. That way, a larger percentage of our lineup is contributing, and we establish lineup variance by separating our entries from the rest of the DFS crowd.

Throughout the season, we will highlight our biggest hits from the previous week to prove the effectiveness of our strategies. Full disclosure: last week was utterly brutal for us. We hit on Brock Purdy (26.8 DraftKings points), Sam Darnold (23.2), and Jauan Jennings (49.5), but basically whiffed on the remaining picks.

It rarely happens to us, and we're not psyched about the underwhelming results, but these things happen in the fantasy world — especially during bizarre stretches like last week. We're holding our heads high and moving forward, however, and are ready to deliver a fresh batch of under-the-radar value plays for Week 4.

Let's unveil the DFS sleepers and value picks on DraftKings, FanDuel, and SuperDraft, highlighting the most affordable high-value options at each position as well as their listed cost or scoring boost on each DFS site. Good luck, have fun, and enjoy Week 4!

Best NFL DFS sleepers for Week 4: Quarterback

Andy Dalton, Panthers vs. Bengals (DK: $5,300 | FD: $7,000 | SD: 1.4x)

Dalton stepped up in a major way for Carolina last week, replacing ineffective second-year QB Bryce Young and leading Dave Canales' Panthers to a 36-22 victory in Las Vegas. The Red Rifle put up 27.6 DK points thanks to a sparkling line that included a 70.3 completion percentage, 319 passing yards, and three TDs.

Now Dalton has a revenge game against his former team, with Cincinnati banged up and facing a short week. Cincy's offense looked pretty darn good on Monday Night Football, putting up 436 total yards, but the Bengals' defense struggled and ultimately fell to Jayden Daniels and the Commanders to drop to 0-3. This could be a high-scoring game, so we're all-in on the latest journeyman QB to succeed under Canales.

WEEK 4 FANTASY PPR RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kickers

Brock Purdy (Q), 49ers vs. Patriots (DK: $6,100 | FD: $7,700 | SD: 1.25x)

We're getting a big-time discount on the Brock star here, as he's starting the week questionable with back soreness. Maybe Purdy and Week 3 breakout Jauan Jennings are simply sore from putting the entire 49ers team on their backs last week against the Rams.

Either way, we like the upside that comes with this affordable pricing, and we love the matchup with a Pats team that just got picked apart by Aaron Rodgers for 299 total yards and two TDs in a 24-3 beatdown. Let's get Purdy.

Other QBs whose Week 4 values exceed their price tags:

  • Jordan Love (Q), Packers vs. Vikings (DK: $6,000 | FD: $7,200 | SD: 1.25x)
  • Justin Fields, Steelers at Colts (DK: $5,500 | FD: $6,800 | SD: 1.3x)
  • Sam Darnold (Q), Vikings at Packers (DK: $5,700 | FD: $7,300 | SD: 1.3x)

Best NFL DFS sleepers for Week 4: Running back

Zack Moss, Bengals at Panthers (DK: $5,900 | FD: $6,900 | SD: 1.35x)

Moss has definitely been "the guy" in the Bengals backfield, even though Chase Brown has been more effective on a per-touch basis. The former Colt and Bill ran for 20.7 DK/18.2 FD points against Washington on Monday, logging 12 rushes for 58 yards and a TD and catching 5-of-6 targets for 39 yards.

Now the 26-year-old bruising back draws a Panthers D that has surrendered the 5th-most DK points and 2nd-most FD points to the running back position this season. Be a rolling stone and collect some Moss this week.

Jerome Ford, Browns at Raiders (DK: $5,700 | FD: $6,400 | SD: 1.45x)

Ford has been very dependable as Nick Chubb's fill-in during the latter's rehab from the terrible knee injury he sustained last season. And while Ford's overall fantasy numbers don't blow anyone away so far this season — 12.1 PPG, 67.6 total YPG — there certainly seems to be room for positive regression.

Ford has averaged 5.0 yards per carry, and he has hauled in 10-of-13 targets for 58 yards. Now he gets to smash around a Raiders defense that has surrendered 132.7 rushing yards and 31.1 DK points per game to RBs, which rank third-most and second-most in the NFL, respectively. Make your lineups "Built Ford tough" this weekend.

Other strong Week 4 RB values:

  • Brian Robinson Jr., Commanders at Cardinals (DK: $6,100 | FD: $7,300 | SD: 1.35x)
  • Chuba Hubbard, Panthers vs. Bengals (DK: $5,700 | FD: $6,500 | SD: 1,45x)
  • Bucky Irving, Bucs vs. Eagles (DK: $5,300 | FD: $6,000 | SD: 1.55x)

Best NFL DFS sleepers for Week 4: Wide receiver

George Pickens, Steelers at Colts (DK: $5,700 | FD: $6,100 | SD: 1.3x)

Pickens found a QB he jives with in Justin Fields, and surprise, surprise, they're both good again. The young wideout has caught 13-of-18 targets for 171 yards, and it's only a matter of time before he finds the end zone.

Only four defenses have allowed more DK points to wide receivers than the Colts this season, and they just lost cornerback Kenny Moore II, defensive end Kwity Paye, and cornerback Dallis Flowers to injuries late in Indy's ugly win over Chicago. Pick Pickens this weekend.

WEEK 4 FANTASY ROSTER MANAGEMENT ADVICE:
Stock watch | Trade advice | Sleepers | Busts

Jauan Jennings, 49ers vs. Patriots (DK: $5,600 | FD: $6,800 | SD: 1.3x)

Some may call this "chasing points" after the breakout receiver logged nearly 50 DK points in Week 3. We call it "riding the hot hand" and taking advantage of a salary that hasn't been properly adjusted.

Jennings got open early and often last week against the Rams, and he should do the same this week against a Pats D that has been suspect at best against opposing wideouts. With Deebo Samuel likely still out, George Kittle questionable, and Christian McCaffrey on IR, Jauan could still be "the one".

Other strong Week 4 DFS values:

  • Rome Odunze, Bears vs. Rams (DK: $5,200 | $6,400 | SD: 1.35x)
  • Jayden Reed, Packers vs. Vikings (DK: $6,000 | FD: $6,300 | SD: 1.25x)
  • Terry McLaurin, Commanders at Cardinals (DK: $5,800 | FD: $6,500 | SD: 1.3x)
  • Diontae Johnson, Panthers vs. Bengals (DK: $5,600 | FD: $6,200 | SD: 1.3x)
  • Quentin Johnston, Chargers vs. Chiefs (DK: $4,900 | FD: $6,000 | SD: 1.35x)

Best NFL DFS sleepers for Week 4: Tight end

Mike Gesicki, Bengals at Panthers (DK: $3,500 | FD: $5,600 | SD: 1.55x)

The Bengals don't have a lot to be happy about right now, but at least Joe Burrow seems to be on the same page with tight end Mike Gesicki. The two have connected on 14-of-18 targets for 156 yards through three games, and now they face a Panthers D that has allowed the third-most DK points and second-most FD points to tight ends. Get down with the Gesicki-ness this Sunday (sorry, this pun train just can't be stopped).

MORE: What's wrong with Travis Kelce? What to do with struggling fantasy TEs

Cole Kmet, Bears vs. Rams (DK: $4,400 | FD: $5,300 | SD: 1.35x)

Kmet broke out in a major way against the Colts last weekend, hauling in 10-of-11 targets for 97 yards and a TD. Don't expect a replica of that performance, but don't expect him to fall on his face this week, either. The Rams have surrendered the fourth-most DK points to the tight end position this season, so Caleb Williams will very likely continue looking Kmet's way.

More Week 4 TEs worth a look:

  • Pat Freiermuth, Steelers at Colts (DK: $3,900 | FD: $5,000 | SD: 1.45x)
  • Brenton Strange, Jaguars at Texans (DK: $3,100 | FD: $5,200 | SD: 1.7x)

Best NFL DFS sleepers for Week 4: D/ST

Houston Texans vs. Jaguars (DK: $3,000 | FD: $4,100)

After two strong showings against the Colts and Bears to start the season, Houston got punched in the mouth by Sam Darnold and the Vikings in Week 3. But there's no Justin Jefferson on the Jaguars' roster, and this game will be played against a shaky Trevor Lawrence on the Texans' home turf. Expect Danielle Hunter and company to bear down on TLaw, and watch for Derek Stingley Jr. to wreak havoc in the secondary. Sorry, not sorry — the Jags have looked terrible

Other solid D/ST plays for Week 4:

  • Los Angeles Rams at Bears (DK: $2,800 | FD: $4,100)
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Eagles (DK: $2,700 | FD: $3,700)
