The Storm and Roosters will face off in this weekend's opening NRL preliminary final clash.

Finishing the regular season in first and third on the ladder, respectively, it is set to be a high-quality clash.

Melbourne hooker Harry Grant spoke positively about his opponents in a press conference on Tuesday.

In particular, he noted how they have adjusted amid recent injuries to Sam Walker and Brandon Smith.

"They're a class side, class organisation, class club – they have been for a number of years," Grant said.

"[They suffered] a couple of injuries a month ago, and there were probably a few people who put a line through them.

"But I definitely didn't.

"It's definitely lit a flame in some of their key positions.

"You look at the way (James) Tedesco is playing, Luke Keary, Lindsay Collins ... they've got one hell of a squad and a hell of a team.

"The way they're playing this season, they're very dangerous.

"They've got threats all over the park, so we're going to have to be on our game."

Melbourne will take some confidence from their recent record over the Roosters, having won all five of their past five matches.

However, Grant believes that the team's head-to-head history won't have a major bearing in finals footy.

"It doesn't matter," he said.

"It's finals. You've just got to turn up and play your best footy.

"You've got to be the best team on the day. That's what our preparation is.

"We didn't know last week who we were going to play.

"We just know that we had to turn up and play well."
