Jahrome Hughes was named the NRL's best player at Royal Randwick on Wednesday night, earning the Dally M Medal for 2024.
The halfback starred for the Storm during the regular season, with the side now just one win away from a premiership triumph.
Hughes pipped Roosters fullback James Tedesco by a single point in a dramatic count.
Earlier in the count, the Melbourne star had six points deducted for a one-game suspension, which he received after making contact with a referee in Round 2.
As the voting got to the nitty gritty stage, Hughes and Tedesco were left as the two contenders.
Despite being rested in the penultimate regular season game, Hughes held a 56-55 advantage following Round 26.
Both players then polled maximum votes in the final round, which saw the New Zealand international claim the medal with a 62-point total.
