Manchester United suffered a second consecutive 3-0 humbling at home in the Premier League after Tottenham brushed aside their 10-man hosts at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils fell behind early to a Brennan Johnson goal after Micky van de Ven was given the freedom of the pitch to run forward and cross for the forward, and things only got worse from there for the hosts.

Spurs missed a host of opportunities in a dominant first-half display before Bruno Fernandes was controversially sent off for a high tackle on James Maddison shortly prior to the interval.

Confirmed lineups:

Man United (4-2-3-1): 24. Andre Onana (GK) — 3. Noussair Mazraoui, 4. Matthijs de Ligt, 6. Lisandro Martinez, 20. Diogo Dalot — 37. Kobbie Mainoo (Mount, 44, Diallo, 85), 25, Manuel Ugarte (Eriksen, 74) — 10. Marcus Rashford (Hojlund, 74), 8. Bruno Fernandes, 17. Alejandro Garnacho — 11. Joshua Zirkzee (Casemiro, 45).

Tottenham (4-3-3): 1. Guglielmo Vicario (GK) — 23, Pedro Porro, 17. Cristian Romero, 37. Micky van de Ven (Dragusin, 81), 12. Destiny Udogie (Spence, 45) — 21. Dejan Kulusevski, 30. Rodrigo Betancur, 10, James Maddison (Moore, 77) — 22. Brennan Johnson (Sarr, 77), 19. Dominic Solanke, 16. Timo Werner (Bergvall, 77).

Once Dejan Kulusevski had cleverly converted Johnson's cross early in the second half, the game was effectively over — and the scrutiny on Erik ten Hag's performance as manager only increased from there.

His players did at least offer a little bit of fight before Dominic Solanke poked home from a corner, prompting jubilation in the Spurs end and a mass emptying of seats around the rest of Old Trafford.

The result left United 13th in the table, with just seven points from six games — their joint-worst return at this stage of a campaign. Ten Hag is now facing a potentially decisive week if he wants to stay in the job.

Man United vs. Tottenham live updates, highlights, and commentary

FULLTIME: MAN UNITED 3-0 TOTTENHAM

Ruthless from Tottenham against a rudderless Man United as Postecoglou claims a huge win in Manchester. Johnson's early goal set the tone for the visitors as the hosts struggled to cope with Spurs' speed and invention throughout.

Fernandes' controversial first-half red card made their task harder, but Spurs dominated either side of his dismissal, with Kulusevski's clever goal doubling Tottenham's advantage, as Solanke sealed the victory late on.

90 mins: Six minutes added on here as the rain starts to pour and Ten Hag cuts an isolated figure on the touchline. Solanke races on to a long ball over the top, but Onana sticks out a leg to block, and Sarr heads the rebound wide.

85 mins: Mount cannot continue and Amad Diallo is on.

81 mins: Final change for Tottenham as Dragusin comes on for van de Ven for the final stages. Mount is down with a head injury.

78 mins: GOAL! SOLANKE KILLS THE GAME! An instant impact from the substitutes: Bergvall's corner is flicked on by Sarr, and Solanke stabs home from a yard out!

77 mins: A chance almost falls for Maddison in the United box but he's blocked off. Triple change for Spurs as Johnson, Werner and Maddison are off, with Bergvall, Sarr and 17-year-old Mikey Moore on.

74 mins: Double change from United as Hojlund and former Spurs star Eriksen come on for Ugarte and Rashford. Porro goes into the referee's notebook for dragging back Garnacho's run down the United left.

71 mins: Werner flies forward for Spurs and bullets a cross straight into Onana's arms. Martinez then loops a cross into the Tottenham box and Casemiro fires an effort across Vicario's goal.

66 mins: United are beginning to show some signs of life as Garnacho drives forward and is blocked off by two defenders. Play switches down to the other end, and Ugarte barges Kulusevski over, to collect the hosts fifth yellow card of the day.

62 mins: A half-chance for United with successive corners. A cross lands at Martinez's feet inside the box but he stabs wide.

60 mins: It should be 3-0 to Spurs. Kulusevski's pass splits the United defence and Werner is bravely thwarted by Onana — who then throws himself at the feet of Solanke for a double save.

56 mins: Martinez - who was lucky not to be sent off at Palace last weekend - dives in on Maddison and picks up a yellow card.

53 mins: The United defence watch on as Porro tiptoes into the box and prods an effort at Onana. Substitute Djed Spence is booked for Spurs.

48 mins: GOAL! SPURS HAVE THEIR SECOND AT LAST! Spurs have repeated the trick with another blistering start. Martinez misses a tackle on half-way, Johnson is away in behind, his dinked cross sits up nicely for the onrushing Kulusevski to acrobatically volley past Onana!

38 mins: OFF THE POST FROM GARNACHO! A little warning from United as Rashford swings in a deep cross from the left and Garnacho's spectacular volley clips the outside of Vicario's post.

Spurs then spring the United offside trap and Werner races away, but he blinks, and Onana rushes out to clear. Dalot is then booked for a pull back on Kulusevski — both of United's full-backs are now on yellow cards.

37 mins: Postecoglou will be delighted with what he's seen from Tottenham so far at Old Trafford.

33 mins: Spurs are constantly finding space in front of the United box as Udogie's drive is deflected behind for a corner by Matthijs de Ligt - Romero volleys the recycled cross just wide.

Mazraoui is the first booking of the day as he dives in late on Udogie.

30 mins: Spurs are working overtime to keep United penned back in their defensive third with the hosts struggling to break out as Maddison drives one straight at Onana.

27 mins: Superb defending from Noussair Mazraoui to slide in and clear Johnson's fizzed cross with Werner lurking at the back post.

22 mins: United's best chance so far. Kobbie Mainoo raids into the box and squares for Zirkzee but his poked effort is straight at Vicario! Udogie is back on the pitch after being injured in the build-up to that Johnson chance.

20 mins: Off the post! So close to Goal No.2 for Johnson and Spurs! Destiny Udogie pounces on another United error and sprints clear down the left, he slips in Dejan Kulusevski, on to Johnson - but his low bullet comes back off the post!

19 mins: Spurs are bossing the key stats so far, with an xG of 1.28, compared to United absolute zero so far.

14 mins: Rashford again looks to raid up the left-hand side for United, but his ball into Joshua Zirkzee is a poor one, and easily gathered by Vicario.

9 mins: Rashford chases a long ball forward from Andre Onana and forces a near post save from Guglielmo Vicario - but a late offside flag flashes up against the United forward.

Spurs then work a shooting angle inside the hosts box and Onana dashes out to make the block from James Maddison.

3 mins: GOAL! JOHNSON PUTS THE VISITORS AHEAD! Micky van de Ven wins back the ball in his own half and storms forward all the way into the United box. His low cross is turned home by the in-form Johnson, and Spurs have the early lead.

A third goal in four games for the Wales international!
