When is Europa League final 2025? Date, time, venue for title match in UEFA cup competition image

The Europa League is the biggest major European trophy available to clubs across the continent who did not qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

While it may not be in the same category as the Champions League, the Europa League is still an important competition and, crucially, can earn a team Champions League status if they go all the way.

Bayer Leverkusen were defeated by Atalanta 3-0 in the 2024 final, held in Dublin. It was the Italian side's first significant trophy since 1963 and proved to be Leverkusen's only competitive defeat in all competitions throughout the season.

From the Premier League, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will be competing in the Europa League in 2024/25 as the tournament begins a new era, following in the footsteps of the expanded Champions League.

Below are the key details on when and where the final will take place in 2025.

When is the Europa League final 2025?

The 2024/25 Europa League final will take place on May 21, 2025.

That is right in line with previous years. Last season's final, which saw Atalanta down Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in Dublin, was on May 22, while in 2022 Sevilla beat Roma on penalties in Budapest on May 31.

What time is the Europa League final 2025?

There is not yet a confirmed kickoff time, but the fixture takes place most years at 9 p.m. CEST, which is 3 p.m. ET.

Where is the Europa League final 2025?

The final will be held at the Estadio de San Mames in Bilbao, Spain. It is the home of La Liga side Athletic Club.

The stadium has a capacity of over 50,000 and opened in September 2013, replacing the original San Mames that had hosted Athletic since 1913.

San Mames general view

The new San Mames held its first major final last season as it hosted the 2024 UEFA Women's Champions League showpiece, where Barcelona beat Lyon 2-0.

Here is where the next three finals of this competition are going to be held:

  • 2025: Estadio de San Mames, Bilbao, Spain.
  • 2026: Besiktas Park, Istanbul, Turkey.
  • 2027: Stadion Frankfurt, Frankfurt, Germany.

Who has won the most Europa League titles?

The Europa League has been dominated by Spanish side Sevilla this century as they've won the trophy on seven occasions and have never lost a final.

Their most recent triumph came on penalties in the 2023 final, when they faced Jose Mourinho's Roma.

After Sevilla, four teams have won the competition on three occasions: Inter Milan, Liverpool, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

In the future, clubs like those at the top of this table may not be in contention for the Europa League title as UEFA has done away with the ability for Champions League sides to drop down into the lower
