WHAT HAPPENED TO TIM TSZYU VS MICHAEL ZERAFA?

Zerafa's camp claims there are too many risks involved in travelling to Newcastle from Melbourne for the fight, although rumours have been swirling about a bad sparring session.

Zerafa's manager Sam Labruna denied those claims, telling Sporting News Zerafa is one kilogram off weight and ready to fight.

Labruna says he "hasn't received a COVID-safe plan" from No Limit, despite New South Wales Deputy Premier John Barilaro saying the bout is safe to go ahead.

In steps Steve Spark.

Speaking to media on Thursday, Tszyu - who was ringside for Spark's win over Jack Brubaker in April - was in no mood to hear excuses, instead shifting his attention to the 12-1 Spark.

For what it's worth, Jeff Fenech  believes late-replacement Spark will pose a tougher challenge for Tszyu.

WHO IS STEVE SPARK?

Steve Spark is a 24-year-old boxer from Toowoomba in Queensland.

After turning pro in 2014 while still a teenager, Spark set about putting the Australian boxing scene on notice, cutting a swathe through the super-lightweight and welterweight divisions.

He most recently defeated Jack Brubaker, an opponent he shares with Tszyu, via unanimous decision on the undercard of Paul Gallen's win over Lucas Browne in April.

The fight with Tszyu will see Spark jump up a division to super welterweight but he's determined to cause a boilover.

REMEMBER WHEN MICHAEL ZERAFA BROUGHT UP KOSTYA TSZYU VS RICKY HATTON?

Michael Zerafa kicked things off two weeks before the fight by bringing up Kostya Tszyu's loss to Ricky Hatton in 2005.

Zerafa said he wants to be known as "Micky Hatton" for this fight. It didn't go down well with Tszyu's camp.

Read about the fallout here.

WHY ZERAFA'S HATTON SLEDGE HIT SO HARD

Tim Tszyu generally remains emotionless and calm during heated pre-fight build-ups, but this one stuck.

Here's why it hit so hard.

Based in Sans Souci, Tszyu left Sydney on Wednesday, June 23rd and will complete the rest of his training camp in Steel City.
