Essendon are shaping their list for off-season acquisitions after the delisting of father-son recruit Jayden Davey.

The Bombers have been linked with moves for two delisted free agents - West Coast's Josh Rotham and Brisbane's Jaxon Prior.

After already axing Kaine Baldwin, Nick Hind, Jaiden Hunter, Sam Weideman and Tex Wanganeen, Essendon have decided not to offer a contract to Davey.

AFL TRADE AND DRAFT NEWS:

Davey, son of Alwyn, didn't manage to play an AFL match since being a father-son selection in 2022, struggling with a knee injury.

In 2024, the small forward kicked 17 goals in 18 VFL games.

“Jayden has worked incredibly hard over the past two years to recover from his ACL injury and get himself back to playing football,” Bombers list boss Matt Rosa said in a club statement.

“We thank him for his commitment and contribution to the club. Jayden will always be an Essendon person, and we wish him all the best moving forward.”

Essendon's draft hand features picks 28, 31, 40, 46, 53, 54, 65, with academy prospect Isaac Kako expected to join the club after being bid on in the top 10.
